PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

The government announced the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, or Rooftop Solar Scheme, to provide subsidies for installing solar panels in homes. The scheme aims to provide 300 units of free electricity each month to one crore households. The subsidy amount depends on the capacity of the solar plant, ranging from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 78,000. The subsidy is:
- Rs. 30,000 for 1 kW systems
- Rs. 60,000 for 2 kW systems
- Rs. 78,000 or higher for 3 kW systems

Subsidy for applications submitted after February 13, 2024
The subsidy is ₹30,000 per kW for residential rooftop solar systems up to 2 kW.

How to get the subsidy
After receiving the commissioning report, submit bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. The subsidy will be received in the bank account within 30 days.
